Family Medicine Associates of Broken Arrow is your Family Medicine and Minor Emergency Care Provider

Minor Medical Emergencies

Generally, minor medical emergencies are not life-threatening but still often require medical attention within 24-hours. Unlike a major emergency, which involves an emergency room visit, minor medical emergencies can typically be handled at an urgent care facility. Our trained specialists can assist you with the following minor emergencies.

  • Laceration and wound repair
  • Foreign body removal
  • Minor burn treatment
  • Minor fracture care

Acute Illness

Acute illnesses are often accompanied by symptoms that appear quickly. Symptoms may impair normal functioning or become severe but the illness itself is generally short-lived. Most often, nausea symptoms can be managed by a doctor’s visit to help ease the duration of the illness.

  • Respiratory distress
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Streptococcal Pharyngitis (Strep throat)
  • Influenza (Flu)
  • Viral Infections

Immunizations

Immunization shots are essential to protect ourselves and loved ones from life-threatening diseases. With proper immunization, the chances of contracting measles, rubella, hepatitis B, mumps and the flu are greatly reduced. Immunizations are important for adults but can be even more important for children.

In-House Laboratory

As an added convenience to our clients, we can do most common lab tests in-house. This means that patients won’t have to drive to another location for tests to be conducted and results are available quickly. In some cases, lab tests may be available during a patient visit, saving time and resources.

  • Strep test
  • Flu test
  • Urinalysis
  • Complete blood count (CBC)
  • Sedimentation rate (SED)
  • Mono test
  • Pregnancy test (Serum and Urine)
  • A1C test (Blood Sugar)

Allergy Testing

Issues with allergies affect more than 50 million individuals across the nation. To effectively treat allergy symptoms and provide effective treatments, individuals may need to undergo allergy testing. Allergy tests, when viewed with a medical history, can determine triggers for allergic reactions.

Sleep Study Evaluations

Sleep studies are non-invasive and require overnight monitoring. By undergoing a sleep study, patients can give their doctor the insight needed to determine if sleep disorders are affecting deep, restful sleep. Throughout the night, the patient’s brain and body activity will be monitored.

Physicals

Whether it’s time for your annual physical or school sports are starting, we can ensure you are ready. Hormone Therapy

Hormone therapy is traditionally defined as the use of hormones for medical treatment. Typically, individuals will begin losing specific hormones with age. As these hormones are lost, many different unwanted side effects will become more prevalent. Hormone therapy counteracts this by replacing the hormones that are being depleted.

  • Female Hormone Therapy

After your period stops, hormone levels begin to fall. This can lead to symptoms such as hot flashes or the development of osteoporosis. To counteract these symptoms, hormone therapy treatments replace lost hormones with estrogen and progesterone which are no longer being made within the body.

Hormone therapy can help menopausal women take control of their symptoms. Though hormone therapy isn’t recommended as a long-term treatment, some women may require longer treatment times due to symptom persistence. It is important to talk to your healthcare provider to determine if hormone therapy will work for you.

  • Male Hormone Therapy

After peaking in the late teens, testosterone levels will begin declining at about 1 percent yearly after reaching age 30. This can cause problems since testosterone is required for reproductive function, muscle bulk, sexual development, bone density and red blood cell levels. Don’t let low testosterone keep you down anymore.

Men suffering from hypogonadism or testicular functionality failure are most likely to benefit from male hormone therapy. Men suffering from low testosterone symptoms who have had their testosterone levels checked may also benefit from hormone therapy. It is important to talk to your healthcare provider to determine if hormone therapy will work for you.
